Freedom of the media and its limitations
Main Article Content
Abstract
Media freedom is one of the extremely important values of democratic societies. It stems from freedom of expression and belongs to the range of human rights guaranteed to individuals by numerous international and national legal acts. The attitude towards freedom of the media as one of the aspects of freedom of expression represents one of the criteria of the achieved level of democracy in a society, and the achieved level of development of society in general. Media freedom cannot be absolute and is limited in every democratic society in order to protect the rights of individuals and society. When it comes to individuals, these restrictions relate primarily to the right to privacy, to the protection of dignity and reputation. When it comes to the social community, the restrictions relate to the protection of the authority and impartiality of the court, the protection of public health, morals and national security.
